Best Places to See Fall Foliage

turning color leaves - Fun Fall Events To Do in Charleston, SC

Charleston and many other areas in South Carolina have so many great places to see the stunning fall foliage. Below are a few favorite spots to check out. One is a quick day trip and another is a weekend trip, BUT SO WORTH IT!

Charlestown Landing

Located off the Ashley River, this gorgeous site is home to where a group of English settlers landed in 1670 and established what would become the birthplace of South Carolina. Charles Towne Landing introduces visitors to the earliest colonial history of Charleston.

My class would always take field trips there when we were in elementary school. Absolutely stunning tree lined trails. Perfect place to see the beautiful fall colors of leaves in Charleston!

Charleston, SC 29407

Paris Mountain State Park

For a different view of fall color, consider Paris Mountain State Park. Instead of mountain vistas, you’ll see fall colors in the reflections in the park’s Mountain Lake or Lake Placid. Unlike some of the other fall color hotspots, the best thing is that it’s just minutes from downtown Greenville. Stay the entire weekend - Greenville is great!

PARIS MOUNTAIN STATE PARK
2401 State Park Rd
Greenville, SC 29609

Blue Ridge Parkway

Absolutely TOTALLY WORTH the drive from Charleston! We went last year and it was absolutely breathtaking. Tree-lined canopy roadways that overlook mountains and valleys as far as the eye can see. Drive all the way up to the top of Mount Mitchell. You’ll feel like you’re in the opening scene of the movie Elf. GORGEOUS!
